Starting Over…

This living room layout was awkward, and while the room gets lots of natural light, it still felt heavy and dark.  My client was open to a whole new look, so the only thing we kept was the piano.

We started by moving the piano to the opposite wall, to create a larger area for seating.  We chose a bright and modern color palette of cream, orange and kelly green as a starting point.  We anchored the room with cream basics, a leather sofa my client found on Craig’s list and a shaggy area rug.  We softened up the window area with drapery panels in an eye-catching green velvet trellis fabric, then layered in orange throw pillows on the sofa.

For the accent chairs, we added depth and interest with the Crate and Barrel Ankara Chairs.  We reupholstered the cream cushions they came with in a green/cream embroidered fabric.  My client found the round ottoman at Home Goods, and we reupholstered that in a Duralee orange/cream geometric.

Accessories and wall art from Z Gallerie add the finishing touches to the space.
